Whether you’re a student, faculty / staff member, department member, vendor/contractor, retiree, or visitor, you can view the permit options available to you in the following section.

Student Permits

Long-term/short-term parking permits for students who commute to campus by motor vehicle.

Annual Individual Permit

Description

  • This permit allows students, faculty, staff, and department members to park in one assigned area at any time (except when needed for special events).
  • These groups may also park after-hours (5 PM to 8 AM) and on weekends (Friday, 5 PM to Monday, 8 AM) in non-residential, non-visitor parking areas (6 AM daily for E45 and E81). This also excludes E48 and E82.
  • All Annual Individual permits are virtual, excluding E70. Virtual permit holders will not receive a physical hangtag.

Purchase Carpool Permit

Description

  • This permit allows students to park in one assigned area at any time.
  • This permit benefits students who may need to obtain a permit on a semester basis.
  • Permits are available in all ER and WR parking locations, E40-Klaus Deck (graduate students only), E52-Peters Deck, E65, E70, E81-Tech Square, W01, W02-Student Center Deck, W06, W10-CRC Deck, W21, W22-Dalney Deck, W23-North Campus Deck, and W31 (based upon availability).
  • Students may also park after-hours and on weekends in non-residential, non-visitor parking areas (non-residential zones are marked with E or W; residential zones are marked with ER or WR). After-hours privileges may be utilized from 5 PM to 8 AM, Monday through Thursday, and from 5 PM Friday to 8 AM Monday.
    • After-hours parking in E45, E49, and E81 parking areas must be vacated by 6 AM daily.
    • Customers must own an E40, E44, or E82 permit to park in E40 (Turner Place), E44, or E82 after-hours.

Availability

  • This permit is available to students.
  • Fall Semester Permit: August 15 through December 31.
    • Must be purchased by September 30.
  • Spring Semester Permit: January 1 through May 15.
    • Must be purchased by February 15.

Pricing

  • $400 for each semester.
    • Fall Semester Permits may be refunded until September 30.
    • Spring Semester Permits may be refunded until February 15.

Purchase Semester Permit

Description

  • This permit allows students, faculty, staff, and retirees to park in one of five specific SmartPark locations around campus.
  • SmartPark is a pay-as-you-go permit program for students, faculty, and staff who occasionally drive to the Georgia Tech campus.
  • Current SmartPark locations include E81-Tech Square/GT Hotel Deck, W02-Student Center Deck, W22-Dalney Deck, W23-North Campus Deck, and Visitors Area 1.
  • SmartPark is allowed from 5:30 AM to 12 AM. Overnight parking is not permitted.
  • Regular hourly parking rates will apply if SmartPark units have not been purchased.
  • The SmartPark program is "permitless" - customers will not receive a physical permit hangtag. SmartPark customers will now tap their BuzzCards on the main entry/exit card readers at any SmartPark location to gain entry/exit.

  • There is no longer a fee to join the SmartPark program.

    • Units may be paid for with a credit card in Driver's Seat as well as with BuzzFunds or a credit card in-person at the PTS office.
    • Units are nonrefundable, but can be rolled over year to year with the purchase of a new SmartPark permit.

Purchase SmartPark Permit

Description

  • This permit allows students, faculty, staff, and retirees to park in non-SmartPark and non-visitor parking zones.
  • Flex Permits allow for in/out access to parking zones while the permit is active.
  • Flex Permits are active until 11:59 PM of their active period.
  • Flex Permits may be purchased up to 60 days before usage.

Availability

  • This permit is available to Georgia Tech students, faculty, staff, and retirees.
  • August 15 through August 14 of the following year.
  • Flex Permits are not available for 3 days prior to major campus events.

Pricing

  • $8 for daily permit.
  • $15 for consecutive two-day permit.
  • $35 for weekly permit.
  • $110 for monthly permit.
  • Flex Permits are non-refundable.

Description

  • This permit allows students, faculty, staff, department members, and visitors to park in ungated parking zones on a basis that matches their needs.
  • Daily permits are issued for one day and expire at 7 AM the following morning.
  • Weekend permits are issued for one weekend and permit parking from 5 PM on Friday through 7 AM on Monday.
  • Weekly permits are issued for one week and expire at 7 AM the morning after the same day of the following week.
  • Monthly permits are issued for one month and expire at 7 AM the morning after the same day of the following month.
  • Temporary permits are only valid for the locations and dates indicated on the permit.

  • These groups may park in any non-residential, non-gated parking zone from:
    • 5 PM until 8 AM on Monday through Thursday.
    • 5 PM on Friday through 8 AM on Monday.
    • Zones E44 and E49 are excluded.
    • Evening/Weekend permit holders parking in E81 overnight must remove their vehicle by 6 AM.
  • Faculty and staff may also choose one gated zone to park in when purchasing the permit. Zones W23, E45, E48, E82, and N171 are excluded.
  • For an additional fee, students, faculty, and staff can also customize these permits to allow access beginning at 2 PM, 3 PM, or 4 PM.

Purchase Evening / Weekend Permit

Description

  • Motorcycle permits allow students, faculty, staff, and retirees with motorbikes, mopeds, scooters, and minibikes of all engine sizes to park on campus in any designated motorcycle parking area.
  • This permit excludes fully retired faculty/staff.
  • Motorcycles must be registered with the Georgia Department of Driver Services and have a valid Georgia Tech permit to park on campus.
  • Motorcycles may only be parked in designated motorcycle parking areas.
  • Motorcycle permit holders must pay the hourly rate if parked in a visitor lot.

  • This permit is available to Georgia Tech students, faculty, staff, and retirees.
  • August 15 through August 14 of the following year.

Pricing

  • $145 for primary vehicle.
  • $30 for secondary vehicle. The secondary vehicle price is only available in conjuction with an Annual Individual Permit and is non-refundable.

  • Reserved spaces are only available to the owner of the space 24 hours per day, 7 days a week (with the exception of special events or construction).
  • To request a new reserved space or change an existing reserved space, please complete the Reserved Space Request form. Once a reserved space request has been approved by the PTS Senior Director, PTS staff will assist the customer in choosing a reserved space in his/her assigned parking location and will install reserved space signage.
  • PTS staff will enforce reserved stall only upon the request of the reserved space user.

Availability

  • This permit is available to Georgia Tech faculty, staff, department members, and retirees, excluding fully retired faculty/staff.
  • August 15 through August 14 of the following year.
  • Reserved space stalls must be renewed annualy.
  • Retirees may renew their reserved spaces during the PTS annual renewal period.

Purchase Annual Individual Permit

Description

  • Many Georgia Tech faculty and staff use their personal vehicles to travel to several campus buildings to conduct Institute business (meetings, deliveries, etc.). Various permits are available to Departments whose personnel use personal vehicles to conduct Institute business and/or a campus fleet vehicle.

Permit Types

Official Business Permit (OBP)
  • Allows employees to park in any ungated lots for up to 2.5 hours. This permit allows the use of loading zones while loading and unloading and service vehicle spaces for up to 30 minutes, and any other unreserved, non-gated, or non-metered parking space while conducting official Institute business.
  • The OPB is not a stand-alone permit. It must be used in conjunction with a valid Georgia Tech Annual Individual, Carpool, Flex, Temporary or Retiree permit.
  • Permit holders with a physical hangtag must display both the OBP and their valid GT parking permit os use OBP parking privileges.
  • Virtual permit holders must register their vehicle in their Driver's Seat account, and display the OBP permit to use OBP parking privileges.
  • To request an OPB, complete the departmental permit request form.
  • NOTE: Vehicles parked in excess of the allowable limits will be cited and are subject to impoundment.
  • Official Business Permits are not permitted in E44, Student Health Center patient parking lot, handicap spaces (without a State-issued ADA hangtag), reserved spaces, metered spaces, no parking zones, visitors pay parking areas, or gate-controlled parking areas.
Fleet Vehicle Permits
  • Vehicles licensed or titled to the Institute or the Institute’s business partners and used in connection with Institute business or activities. This includes low-speed vehicles and golf carts. Department/Fleet vehicles without permits are subject to citation.
  • To request Fleet Vehicle Permits, complete the departmental permit request form.
    • Licence plate number
    • Make and model of vehicle
    • Campus vehicle number
    • Completed IDSS form for journal entry payment containing PeopleSoft number, Doc ID, and Account number.
All Access Permits
  • Individuals with All Access may park in any gated or ungated campus parking location (excluding Visitors Areas 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 9, 10, E82, N171 and campus metered parking spaces).
Multi Access Permits
  • Individuals with Multi Access may park in any gated or ungated campus parking location (excluding Visitors Areas 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10, E44, E45, E48, E82, N171, and campus metered parking locations).
Dual Access Permits
  • Individuals with Dual Access may park in their assigned location for their Annual Individual Permit and one additional parking location (excluding Visitor Lots, E44, E45, E48, and N171).

  • These permits are available to Georgia Tech faculty, staff, and department members.
  • August 15 through August 14 of the following year.

Pricing

  • $460 for Official Business Permit. This cost must be paid in addition to the amount paid for an applicable campus permit.
  • $230 for Fleet Vehicle Permit
  • $460 for All Access Permit. This cost must be paid in addition to the amount paid for an Annual Individual Permit.
  • $460 for Multi Access Permit. This cost must be paid in addition to the amount paid for an Annual Individual Permit.
  • $230 for Dual Access Permit. This cost must be paid in addition to the amount paid for an Annual Individual Permit.

Visitor Permits

Temporary Permit

Description

  • This permit allows students, faculty, staff, department members, and visitors to park in ungated parking zones on a basis that matches their needs.
  • Daily permits are issued for one day and expire at 7 AM the following morning.
  • Weekend permits are issued for one weekend and permit parking from 5 PM on Friday through 7 AM on Monday.
  • Weekly permits are issued for one week and expire at 7 AM the morning after the same day of the following week.
  • Monthly permits are issued for one month and expire at 7 AM the morning after the same day of the following month.
  • Temporary permits are only valid for the locations and dates indicated on the permit.

Availability

  • This permit is available to Georgia Tech students, faculty, staff, department members, and visitors.
  • August 15 through August 14 of the following year.

Pricing

  • $15 per daily permit.
  • $15 per weekend permit.
  • $35 per weekly permit.
  • $110 per monthly permit.
  • Temporary permits are non-refundable.

Retiree Permits

Long-term/short-term parking permits at discounted rates for retired GT employees.

Retiree Permit

Description

  • Georgia Tech faculty and staff who retire are eligible to purchase parking permits at a discounted rate.
  • Fully retired persons are eligible to purchase an annual Retiree permit that may be used in any ungated parking zone (excluding E44 and E49).
  • Retirees who are working part-time at the Institute may purchase an annual Retiree/Working permit and can also request gate access for one gated parking area in any one of the following locations: E40, E46, E52, E63, E81, W21, and W23.
  • New retirees must provide documentation of their retired status to PTS and be granted authorization by their supervisor to obtain a retiree permit.

  • This permit is available to Georgia Tech faculty and staff who have retired.
  • August 15 through August 14 of the following year.

Pricing

  • $398 for retirees still on Georgia Tech payroll.
  • $50 for retirees no longer on Georgia Tech payroll. This pricing is non-refundable and only allows for parking in ungated parking zones.

Purchase Retiree Permit

Description

  • This permit allows students, faculty, staff, and retirees to park in non-SmartPark and non-visitor parking zones.
  • Flex Permits allow for in/out access to parking zones while the permit is active.
  • Flex Permits are active until 11:59 PM of their active period.
  • Flex Permits may be purchased up to 60 days before usage.

Availability

  • This permit is available to Georgia Tech students, faculty, staff, and retirees.
  • August 15 through August 14 of the following year.
  • Flex Permits are not available for 3 days prior to major campus events.

Pricing

  • $8 for daily permit.
  • $15 for consecutive two-day permit.
  • $35 for weekly permit.
  • $110 for monthly permit.
  • Flex Permits are non-refundable.

Purchase Flex Permit

Description

  • Motorcycle permits allow students, faculty, staff, and retirees with motorbikes, mopeds, scooters, and minibikes of all engine sizes to park on campus in any designated motorcycle parking area.
  • This permit excludes fully retired faculty/staff.
  • Motorcycles must be registered with the Georgia Department of Driver Services and have a valid Georgia Tech permit to park on campus.
  • Motorcycles may only be parked in designated motorcycle parking areas.
  • Motorcycle permit holders must pay the hourly rate if parked in a visitor lot.

Availability

  • This permit is available to Georgia Tech students, faculty, staff, and retirees.
  • August 15 through August 14 of the following year.

Pricing

  • $145 for primary vehicle.
  • $30 for secondary vehicle. The secondary vehicle price is only available in conjuction with an Annual Individual Permit and is non-refundable.

Purchase Motorcycle / Scooter / Moped Permit

Description

  • Faculty, staff, department members, and retirees are eligible to purchase reserved parking spaces in their assigned parking zone.
  • This permit excludes fully retired faculty/staff.
  • Reserved spaces are only available to the owner of the space 24 hours per day, 7 days a week (with the exception of special events or construction).
  • To request a new reserved space or change an existing reserved space, please complete the Reserved Space Request form. Once a reserved space request has been approved by the PTS Senior Director, PTS staff will assist the customer in choosing a reserved space in his/her assigned parking location and will install reserved space signage.
  • PTS staff will enforce reserved stall only upon the request of the reserved space user.

Availability

  • This permit is available to Georgia Tech faculty, staff, department members, and retirees, excluding fully retired faculty/staff.
  • August 15 through August 14 of the following year.
  • Reserved space stalls must be renewed annualy.
  • Retirees may renew their reserved spaces during the PTS annual renewal period.

Pricing

  • $750 for reserved space permit. This cost must be paid in addition to the amount paid for an Annual Individual Permit (for faculty/staff and department members) or an Annual Campus Retiree (working part-time) Permit.

Permit Payments

All student permit fees, except for those associated with SmartPark and Flex permits, are transferred to the Bursar’s office to be paid along with tuition and fees. SmartPark units and Flex permits may be paid for using a credit card.

Returns / Refunds / Exchanges

Permits are issued and assigned in accordance with Georgia Tech’s academic year. Permits are pre-sold starting in April for the upcoming academic year.

Refundable permits may be returned for prorated refunds to the PTS office before March 31 each academic year. Permits returned after this date will not be refunded. SmartPark, Flex, Motorcycle, and Temporary permits are nonrefundable.

Students may exchange their Annual Individual or Carpool permits for a different location by filling out the Permit Return Request form and purchasing their desired permit in My Parking Account.
