How Parking Permit Refunds Work

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we continue to monitor the impact of COVID-19 on the campus community under the guidance from the Institute and the University System of Georgia. 

USG announced that its 26 institutions will continue to deliver instruction remotely during May and summer semesters. In support of this decision, Parking and Transportation will suspend/refund permit related charges.  

 

Student Permit Refunds

All student permit customers will receive a prorated refund via their Bursar’s accounts. The following are the prorated permit refund amounts for permit returns as of March 16, 2020:

  • Annual Individual - $344
  • Carpool - $279
  • Evening/Weekend - $91
  • Evening/Weekend +1 hour - $137
  • Evening/Weekend + 2 hours - $182
  • Evening/Weekend + 3 hours - $227
  • Motorcycle - $51
  • Semester - $160

 

Faculty/Staff Permit Refunds

If you paid for your permit via payroll deduction, April and May parking permit related charges will be suspended. Please note there are no payroll deduction charges scheduled for June and July based on PTS’s existing guidelines. Your permit will remain active and may be used anytime through August 14, 2020. Please note that payroll deduction requests for citation payments will continue as planned. 

REVISED FROM THE GEORGIA TECH CORONAVIRUS TASK FORCE EMAIL SENT ON 4/13/20:
If you paid for your permit in full via credit card or check,
prorated refunds will be issued via Accounts Payable or MarketPlace. For Accounts Payable refunds, please allow 14 business days for processing. You and your supervisor/manager will receive an email notification from gatech@myworkday.com that a refund has been issued. Both you and your supervisor/manager are required to approve the transaction before the refund is processed. For MarketPlace refunds, please allow three to seven business days for the refund to be posted to your bank account.

 

2020-2021 Permit Renewals and Sales

USG institutions are tentatively planning to return to normal on-campus operations for the fall semester should guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Georgia Department of Public Health allow it. If you would like to renew or purchase a parking permit for the upcoming academic year, please note the new permit registration dates for June:  

  • Permit Renewals: June 1-10, 2020 
  • Wait List Awards: June 12-17, 2020 
  • General Permit Sales: June 19-July 10, 2020 

 

Please note:

  • Student permit payments will be processed with Fall 2020 tuition and fees.
  • Faculty/staff payroll deductions payments will begin in August 2020. Deductions will occur through May 2021 (there are no deductions in June or July 2021).
  • Faculty/staff who pay for permits via credit card will be charged at the time of their transaction.
